Synopsis of Minutes 

Present: Shannon Leson, Chairperson; Gloria Malinoski, Vice-Chairperson; Nancy Kirk; Robert Volk; Jeff Weafer; Lyle Burkell; Agnes Ewen; Eleanor Shumay; Chrystal Armstrong; Denny Huyghebaert, Deputy of Superintendent of Funeral and Cremation Services; Sandy Mahon, Registrar

Council was advised one complaint has been received since the last meeting of Council and it was successfully concluded.  A previous complaint has also been successfully solved and an investigation committee has been convened to hear another previous complaint.  Thirty-three compliance reviews have been completed to date.

A motion was passed to appoint Drew Gray, EFDS 450, to the Discipline Panel.

A motion was passed to create an administrative procedure to destroy criminal record checks after the purpose for which it was received.

A motion was passed to approve the bylaws and forms as presented by the Legislative & Governance Committee:

  • 2020 – Registration for Students
  • 2021 – Licensing Procedures – Conditional Licenses
  • 2022 – Obligation to Interns and Students
  • 9000 – Schedule of Fees
  • Form 20(b) – Embalmer/Funeral Director Student of Canadian College of Funeral Service

A motion was passed to approve the April 2017 Revenue & Expense reports as presented.

A motion was passed to approve the Committees of Council as presented.

A further motion was passed to appoint Shawna Woicichowski, EFDS 511, as a Mentor.

A motion was approved to approve the CANA Online Operations Certificate Program and Cremation Strategies & Consulting pursuant to bylaw 2060(1)(e).

The next meeting of Council will be held on September 14th, 2017.
